We began with a long, oval form and repeated it in a lower table, positioned slightly off-centre. From there, the idea emerged to merge two precise ovals into a single tabletop. One oval was made smaller and angled in relation to the larger one. The transition between the two ellipses was shaped as a flowing curve that fitted precisely into its counterpart. In this way, the table’s form was not a soft coincidence, but a considered composition – like yin and yang, where one creates its own counterpart, explains Ebbe Gehl.
